454 TBI Unit Bolting to 350 TBI Manifold?

Is this true? A person can just simply bolt on a 454 TBI on a 350 TBI intake manifold and all will be well?

The bolt pattern is the same, so it will bolt right up. The problem is the 454 has 2" bores, where as the small block units have 1 11/16" bores. The butterflies won't even open without hitting the top of the intake if you put a 454 unit on a small block tbi intake. Besides, this size difference creates a new restriction, so you don't gain anything anyway from the bigger tbi bores.

I'm sure you can just bore out the intake bores to 2" and be ok. Probably someone here has done it this way. Also, I think the early versions of the Edelbrock tbi intakes for small blocks came with 2" bores. Holley also makes one, but not sure of the bore size. Or you can just use a carb intake with a Holley 1741 adapter plate.

you can bore the stock TBI intake out. Ghosst did it. You can't bore out the Edelbrock TBI intake, the walls are too thin.
