horse power ratings of GM crate motors

I was looking into buying a 350 gm motor soon and was wondering are their horsepower ratings gross or net? I was thinking about either the 270hp 350 tbi motor or the 265hp 350.

GM has a 375hp LS1 crate motor. If you have the green go for that. I can't remebr how much it was but it is in the range of 4k to 6k

Thats a little out of my price range. I was looking around 2 grand. GM has a couple of motors around that price range I was looking for something in the 250hp to 300hp range that would be compatible with my stock electronics. The only real mods so far are the ultimate tbi mods and 350 injectors. So does anyone know if the motors hp ratings are gross or net?

Thanks for the link I might go with their 330hp 350 it runs around $2100. Other than the intake I hope everything else will bolt up.

Jim Pace sells the 330ho for $100 less than all other supliers and it only cost me $140 to have the engine shipped from Ohio to NJ.

Hey VIN, just a reminder that those engines (the 330hp/350) use the Vortec heads, so you'll beed a Vortec intake.

I have been thinking about using the edelbrock 310hp or 320hp crate engines as a replacement. That way I wouldn't have to deal with the vortec egr thing and have aluminum heads. Anybody tried one. It would be nice if I could order it with the TBI manifold on it. Then I wouldn't have to worry about hood clearance either.

I keep hearing how edelbrock cams suck *** . If you were to go with the 250HP replacement 350 it would be wise to put a bigger cam in it and add headers while youre doing the swap. The HP ratings vary so widely from application to application that its impossible for GM to rate an engine with any degree of accuracy like that. Id say with a cam, intake, headers and **** like that you could easily clear 300ponies

Belive me, for the extra 75 horses you'd be putting out, solving the egr vortec problem is simple. Jim Pace, aside from selling the 350 HO cheap, also sells intake manifolds, and one of them is vortec/egr equipped. Problem solved, have a nice day.
