What is the proper start up for a tbi...I turn and key and give it 3 slow pumps of gas and it usaully does the trick....What can i do to make my car start at the touch of the key????

I never pump the pedal. I thought you didn't need to do that with EFI. I just turn the key and like magic , it starts.

ohhh....ill try that and see what happens..anymore suggestions on getting it ot start faster

you should'nt have to pump the gas to get the engine to start up. Turn the key in the ignition until you here your fuel pump working, then just turn the key the rest of the way to start the car. no pumping gas, that will flood the engine

Pumping the gas while the engine is NOT CRANKING does absolutly nothing. There is no accelerator pump. All that happens is the throttle plates open and close, open and close, but the function is serving no purpose at all.

LoL, some of these threads are funny. Your priming a EFI engine....hehehe, sorry man, thats just something my grandpa would do or somethin.

Just for info if you floor the pedal and release it puts the ecm into clear flood mode.

Uh i think thats if you hold the pedal down while cranking

i think so too.

but, if you are having trouble or its turning slow. its probably an old starter thats dying. or a dying battery.

You could back the timing out a little too

Msd coil or ignition will help out also

mine takes a second to fire up as well and i have accell supercoil and wires and new plugs, if i just get out after going in a store and get back in it fires up quick, but if it sits for a while it doesnt. i think its the fuel pump not doing its job.
