The Ultimate Street Legal Third gen (TBI)

So i was thinking we have 7033 members if each of us donated 2 dollars that would be over 14,000 dollars. Think of the third gen you could build with that.

Or all of us tbi guys dont have a clue on how many uf us there are but if we had like a drawing and whoever wins gets there car built to hell to prove that they can be fast that would kick a**. What do ya think is it possible.

This is tbi and tech because you could build it with tbi and the mods you could do are tech.

hey i see where ur comin from, i think we could almost do a type of group purchase. All throw down a small amount for something and see if we can get a deal on it. Like maybe we can all get a flowmaster 80 series dual outlet or something for a real small amount. Something that only thirdgen.org members would have. SO everytime u heard a flowmaster people would think "thats a thirdgen.org member" "i better not mess with him"..........lol but seriously though it sounds kool and id be willing to throw down 2$ on something like that......

Problem would then be finding the car, the person or persons that'll do the dirty work, what products, proposals, people poll questions etc. It gets really messy.
How about this for an option:
Tim and I want to do one lap of america with a thirdgen. We'd build it up from sponsor money. The real company sponsors will get a much larger decal on the car than a person giving say $5. We'd have a table showing what size decal then before the car gets dirty we'll take pictures of the car focused on a specific ad and send them to the sponsors to hang up in offices or where ever. Anybody think they'd want to help with $20 in a couple years?
Tim, what do you think? I know of a few companies that would probably give a lot on money. Heck, I bet it's a tax write off!

Only one question, who owns the car when it's finished. Technically, anyone who put in there 2 dollars would onw an equal share. It's a good idea, but somebody would be making out awesome, becasue the car ends up parked in thier garage! If thats the case I'll donate my car to the fund, and everybody can give me 2 bucks. That way I won't have to sneak money from my wife to build my car.

Yah, but think about how much faster it would be with TPI or a Carb on it. *Devil's Advocate* }=)

Its a cool idea, but it'd never work, like Andy said.

It wouldn't be faster with TPI or Carb. And they wouldn't be very reliable, TPI more so than carb but still. TBI would be cheaper and support more high end hp for the track, not like we're going to be running a completely stock engine, if that were the case a TPI would be nice for the low end.

We would definetly go for a 350 and snuf's new tbi outfitted on it. I'm thinking maybe 400 plus horses easy. I would be willing to give a few bucks for this idea, but who will collect the money and do the work?

Tell you what, you can take my car and modify it. Then race it a few times, and give it back to me..... and then I'll never see you again, how does that sound? LoL wouldn't that be great?

I have the solution on the work side.

We could ask Horsepower TV to do the project for us. Who cares what they use, multiport, TBI, or CARB. It would be good exposure for the site. We could do a raffle as suggested. Or we could sell the car and give the money to charity or something.

I like that idea. $5 each, have horsepower TV do the work, get some dyno figured, other specs like skid pad etc, sell car and give money to charity. I'm up for that.

Here's another idea about the induction system. I don't know how plausible this is.

We could let them try all three induction systems, TBI(CFI maybe), TPI, and CARB. They have a dyno, so they could check results.

The last thing this site needs is more exposure. There are far too many idiots here allready.

I also think that a better idea would be to keep your money and spend it on your own car.

Just my non P.c. opinion

you guys are on crack if you think there are 7000+ members. There may have been total but not all at once. Too much BS has happened for all those people to stick around.

You're right, most don't spend much time on the boards because of pessimists, realists, and idiots.
Pablo, what's wrong with giving $5 to charity? Right it off when you do taxes and now you've broken even and helped out a charity. Sorry, this isn't a flame, just my view on it. I just don't like being told I'm on crack . I know it'll never happen but it's always nice to dream. Even if 2000 members gave $5, that's only $10K for a whole car .

If it ended up being a charitable contribution, and I had a chance at a new powertrain, I would happily give $10.

Nothing says we couldn't put our minds together and come up with a solid powertrain package. The winner would get the new engine/tranny/diff and could install it in their car. Then, as a courtesy, they could post their time slips. Plus, it doesn't have to be a TBI, it could just be the biggest barn burner we could come up with. Summit already gives memebers 10% off, who says they wouldn't give some parts also?

Definitely good PR for the site. I've done some work with Speedway Children's Charities (think NSACAR) before. I'll bet they'd be glad to get a donation.

want to give to a thirdgen related "charity"

Send that 5 dollars to dirk, who has been paying for this site for the past 3 or so years out of his pocket (no the sponsors dont even come close to helping break even)

Thirdgen related Charity? WTF?

The best would be the raffle idea I think, that way we'd be selling chances on who wins the car at the end.
