ZZ4 305 TBI?

some guy said he's putting a ZZ4 cam in his 305 TPI and was askig if it was a good idea. He had heard that it was. I said it was too big and too look at the LT4. Then some more people said the ZZ4 cam would be better. So what about putting that cam in a 305 TBI?

Someone had said that our valves are so showded that you'd need extra lift to get the same gain that you would from a cam on 350. Because a 350 wouldn't be as shrowded.

I think the zz4 cam is too much for the stock heads. The stock heads are the biggest problem. The swirl port blocks off half of the intake opening port. I would just save for heads AND a cam swap. Some guy installed a 305 TPI cam into his L03 and he said his top end was much better. The hp didn't just drop off at 4500 but went a bit more. I think the zz4 cam would be overkill with these heads. I would just go with an Lt1 cam myself if I still had the l03. It's enough to squeeze out the last bit of performance from the stock heads.

that cam is not too big its friggin mild (although I have not seen the dur at .006 figures)

and you have it backwards. Our valves get shrouded at higher lifts by the bores. BUt not so much with stock valve sizes its more of a concern to larger valves. Even then I dont think its that much of a concern as the only flow it would hur imho would be flow past and below the valve not to the sides and ideally youd want it come round the side of the bore to increase swirl motion. Course it still hurts but its not horrid.

I repeat, the zz4 cam is not big (judging by .050 numbers) its actually probably a GREAT grind for your typical lo3
