Home-made Ram Air?

Has anyone tried it? I'm gonna try doing it the way explained in on of the tech articles here on thirdgen. It mentions something about relocating the evaporating canistor on the drivers-side front of the engine bay, right by the headlights. I was wondering if you can just get rid of it. I thought that you can, because all it does is recycle fumes or something. Well, has anyone removed it? What all is needed to be done?

If you have the stock air cleaner and want to make ram air it's really easy. With the camaro you need to relocate the cuise control. Then remove the high bean on the drivers side, use a bunch of zip ties and it's a cheap ram air setup. If you want to be fancy then you'll have to relocate the vac canister and run the pipe down, then you'll need to fabricate some kind of "catch" piece. You can either attach the catch to the front ground effects or the air dam (radiator air catch).

I went from stock, to home-made ram air, to open element air cleaner. The result is the open air cleaner had the biggest SOTP difference. But, it all depends on what other mods you have first. I have 1.6 rockers, headers, and 3 inch exaust. My engine way ready for more air and I can tell!
