Can you adjust timing?

Can you adjust timing?

I have a 92 Camaro with a 305 TBI. Can i advance the timing a few degrees. Or does the prom control it.

I also have 92 camaro rs. And when i got it the timing was about 12' to the left. The book says put it on 0, but we put it on 4 and it ran great, we tried it on 8 but had to run premium so we put it on 6 and it runs great. 6 is where im leaving mine for now. i dont know if this helps but its what we did and it runs great and fast.

The computer can only advance or retard the timing. You can set the base timing by unplugging the single wire that is on the passenger side of the car near the blower motor, I believe it's brown.

That disconnects the ECM's control over the timing, then you can set timing regularly using a timing light.
