Prototype TBI, within

My machinist backed out on me today, hes been putting me off every week, finally i asked him if he still wanted to do it. He said well, if i talked to somebody else it might be a good idea for me to go somewhere else because he wasnt going to have time. His original quote was very very very low, and i knew that, and thats why i wasnt rushing him because i knew he was just gona work on it in his spare time. well he doesnt have any.
I talked to another Shop and will talk to a few more tomorow. I got quoted $500 for the first one, because they will have to figure out the best way to build it. Obviously the peice per unit would go down after that.

SO, im posting to see if anybody has a cnc machine that they could use, besides taz , because all of his are busy. Is there anybody with the access to one? that they could setup and make one of my tbi's in their spare time etc.. after work or something? I would want a signed confidentiality agreement, and i you could make one for yourself for all i car and test it.

OR, does anybody want to throw down a donation to the prototype tbi fund refundable one purchase of a TBI. ????

Email me at snflupigus@aol.com or post here.
Thanks, if neither of the options above workout, ill just save my $ and it will probably be a while before i build one

I knew this guy was too good to be true.
But im not giving up. just wondering if anybody is willing to loan any amnt of $ that would be completely refundable in the future. And if i dont get enough $ to build one, or a few, ill give you your money back. all i need is a few hundred, like 250 or so, and i can afford the rest to build the prototypes.

Thanks, dont give up on me guys

Snuf, I might be able to see if there are some free cnc machines here at OSU over the summer (taking summer classes). If there are then I might be able to hook you up, think of this as an absolute LAST resort. From your drawings, have far have you gotten? Before you start you're going to need to figure out ALL the finished surfaces.

Wish I had the money(all of it is going to the $1300 paint job). Dont give up on us. How many CFM do you think you are gonna flow?

Maybe a local VoTech school can help you out.

The local school has a decent CNC shop and would take on some projects for learning purposes.

I was quoted by a prof at University of Nebraska here at Omaha, $1200.

i could have taken a rapid prototype class over the summner, 5 hours a day 2 days a week. but the prof said mostly they would be learning autocad first. then work on the rapid prototype machine, and the water cutter twards the final classes. I already know cad, so i figured it would be a waste of my time.

btw, jprevost. the drawings are 100% done, dimensioned, and i even have my own building instructions labeled.

im going to a few shops today. ill update later

to the cfm question. In theory, the 58mm tbi will flow nearly or more than 1000cfm at the same measurements of the stock 2bbl tbi.

remember, that one would be for strictly high horsepower apps. a 2" unit should eventually flow more than a 454 or holley, because of the special radiuses and transitions. mainly, the advantages of the design are somewhat cosmetic, but there are also quite a few flow enhancements and ease of assembly and modification advantages. ie, nos ports could be drilled right into the base. because there is enough extra metal around the bores. etc.... different bases and aircleaner adapters could be made too.

anyway, ill update later. and when i get one built, i will flow test em all. even our stock ones.
