Holley TBI adapeter plate-which way does it go on

Is the adapter supposed to mount the TBI so it is foreward of centerline on the manifold or so it is behind the center line of the manifold? Does it make a performance difference and if so why?
Thanks for the help on this..........bob

I ain't ever done it, but it would seem that performance wise, it'll make no diff. It's like putting a 2v carb on a 4v manifold anyway. I mean, it's better than that, but the same concept. I would recommend putting it forward just for better aircleaner-to-distributor clearance. Unless you run into another clearance problem up front. Just loosly put it all together w/ aircleaner to check. Try it both ways. See which works better.

If you have a dual plane manifold it won't matter as much as a single plane. One thing you have to think about is how at low/part throttle the blades flow air to the rear cylinders by design. It's just the way they open and direct the air. With that in mind, you'll want to move the TB up front more for a street car. Center is best from a performance stand point. Definatly don't put it back more then center.
