Ram Air from ramairbox.com

They have ram air boxes for a lot less than Next Gen so I was wondering which angle of separation to get: 80 or 110. The factory GM looks like 110 (I don't have one to measure).

Were u going to leave the snorkles open or run air tubes to the front of the car? I emailed them and they told me on some camaros, i think 89-92 its hard to run the air tubes because the air cond. pump is right in the way. Let me know what u decide to go with. Personaly i think i would go with the one where the snorkles are spread out more.

I have been looking into buying one of the ram air boxes, and on the website it says that the 80 degree works better for a "ram air" effect, but i am going to use the 110 because my a/c will be in the way (the 110 will still be a pain, but i think it will work). Also, what type of base are you going to use? Flat base or drop base with a spacer? And, what height filter? Any suggestions?

I talked to these guys on the phone and they said for the later model camaros with A/C on the passenger side you have to remove the overflow tank and replace it with a smaller one. There are a few other mods required also but I forgot what. they say the only one that will fit is the 110 degree.
You have to use 4" tubing and run the tubes
"up front" but I can't see where you put the tubes to get real cold air. They said to "bury them in the body work" and Keep them as straight as possible. They also said the system flows about 700 CFM accounting for loss in the corragated tube you buy from the hardware store. You could take out one of the lights on each side and mount the tubes there, that would work well, but IMO its looks real funky.
Without getting the tubes to an unrestricted
cold air source, I wonder what the benefit would be?
If any one has done it or has suggestions, I would sure like to know.Thanks..............bob

I have often wondered about using a cowl induction hood and mounting the ram air box backwards with the snorkels going to the cowl.

I've always wanted to remove the brights from each side and run the tubes up to the holes where the brights used to be. You'd get really good ram-air effect and I think that it looks kinda cool (there used to be a guy on here who had done it).

?? that makes no sense. Cowl hoods have kits that seal the open element up into the hood once its shut.

I've also heard of running it through where the fog lights are/were (on some cars) but I don't know if this would work

Yeah, there is a nice hole where the fog lights are but seems like a lot of bending to get it routed. No ram air, but cold air maybe. Anyone try this?..........bob
