Clicking noise

Clicking noise

I took off the heat stove... turned on my car and heard a rapid clicking noise coming from behind the alternator and below the intake tube... But the heat stove back on and still hear the noise then felt a hose coming off the valve cover... Felt it vibrating and i guess thats where its coming from... This is on the driver side of the engine.. What is it(hose) for and what could cause the noise....???? Thx

Engine: 385ci LT1 cnc ported heads big cam
Transmission: 4L60E automatic
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Zexel posi 7.5" rear
Could be the PCV valve. Its in the valve cover right around the area your describing. Some pcv valves can be noisy. Since its a $2 piece you may want to change it any. Also check your vacuum lines especially the ones to the air cleaner and make sure they are ok. A vacuum leak can cause the pcv valve to not recieve enough vacuum for normal operation.
