I guess I'm buying a new AFPR...

I decided today to try and do the AFPR mod from this site.. I got everything going fine until I had to drill it.. The part that holds the bolt and cover came free and the tabs are either bent or broke and I can't get it to stay in place.. It simply comes out when I flip it upside down.. I have a feeling this isn't good.. So I guess I'll just order one from summit...

Oh well, these are they type of things that tend to happen to me while i'm working on parts that I need in the car....

Well, I held it in and twisted it and it seems to be OK now, its in place and hard to move so I put it back in with an increase in pressure.. I fired it up, don't see any leaks but I am still a little cautious with it..

There doesn't seem to be any gasket on it in the first place, so it's not possible for fuel to leak out of the thing that holds the bolt, is there?

I just get a little nervous when i'm working with fuel systems...

fuel is never in the cup.
so if the round bottom of the cup came off, it wouldnt make any difference except it would be hard to adjust the pressure.

if you can tack weld it back on, or even a new actual nut back on that fits the threads of the little disc that holds pressure on the spring, youll have made your own perfectly usefull and as good as a 40$ peice from summit.

Mine fell out.......I used the dremel to put the gash in the head so I could turn a screwdriver on it and it went back together well and forked fine.

Its the part that is on the very bottom when everything is put back together.. It seems to be running fine and I don't see or smell any fuel but i'm afraid that i'll hit a bump and it will be shot completely open by the spring. Maybe i'm just paranoid.

Glad to hear that no fuel runs through there though. I think i'll wait on some of the other mods to my TBI unit until I can get my exhaust and gears done.

Check this for ideas:

TBI AFPR. It's a *.PDF file, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open/view/print the file (See link below).
