Almost got new engine running but having TBI problems...
Okay, here's the scoop - 385 CID engine, Edelbrock Performer manifold, Holley 670 base, GM tower with 350 injectors (also have 454 injectors), stock ECM. The Holley base does NOT have an IAC, but instead has an idle stop screw. Well, when I go to fire her up, a seriously solid cone of gas comes firing out. Now, I'm talking a serious cone of fuel. Occasionally it'll "pulse" like it's supposed to, but for the most part it's a steady stream of gas, no pulsing. What's the deal wif dat? I get the same results no matter if I'm using the 350's or 454's. The weird thing is that it will occasionally pulse. Any ideas? I'm going to go back out and check the grounds for the ECM, and all of those grounds that go to the back of the head and stuff but other than that...
On top of that I can't find the ESC wire and where it's supposed to connect to - anyone have any pix?

Steve I'm glad that you've got the 383 running. I'll be interested to see it up and in tune. What wire are you looking for? I don't remember what year your bird is?
That makes two of us, brother!
I was looking to make sure that I had all of the grounds hooked up that go to the back of the heads - turned out I didn't but that didn't solve the problem. What DID solve the problem was unhooking my MSD 6A and just running the stock stuff. Turns out one of the wires had pulled out of the damn connector so I just ran the stock deal. After I found that pulled wire I found the ESC connector in the same bundle so we're good there too. Anyway, she's still way WAY out of tune, matter of fact I can't even keep her running, but the couple of times I goosed it to keep it running... well, let's just say, "Oh my." It sounds like a friggin race car - deep sharp exhaust note and it rev's like nobody's business. My buddy has a hopped up 1972 Pontiac LeMans and it just make it sound, well... like a four banger Civic. I mean, wow. Gonna be some scary sheeeit.
But in a good way.

Steve, are you going to make it to East coast f-body nats at E-town NJ? It's aug 4th if you didn't know when. I'd like to see the car. I have all my chip burning equipment and scanning software hooked up. I'm now completely portable and if you could make it up we could work on tuning that beast. I'm sure you know if it's running lean/rich etc but you need a custom eprom for sure. Your idle might be able to be tuned mechanically with fuel pressure etc. but that is going to make for the leanest WOT operation. Get back to me.

Well, I dunno Jon, I think that'd be a pretty cool gig but (a) I know next to nothing about it, (b) I'm not sure my car will be up for it, and (c) I'm not sure I'll be up for a bunch of people seeing my car without it being completed. Sooo, in that order:
(a) Website for info?
(b) I hope to have her up and running shortly - at least by the time the dyno runs are scheduled down here in Virginia Beach.
(c) We'll see. Depending on how much body work I can get done by then... Well, let's just say we'll see! I'm going to look at integrating the Ford Cobra's "nostrils" into the rear of my "cowl" in order to let air through the hood at high speeds instead of getting trapped.
I could sure use some of your knowledge down here, let me tell you. Yesterday after about a billion cranks, my battery finally couldn't do it anymore. So, I jump her with the LeMans and crank some more. Then, no more cranky. Turn the key and nada, no click, nothing - still get SES light and such but nothing from the engine. At that point chow arrived (thank God for the double meat Garlic Cheese Steak sandwich), so I ever-so-carefully draped "the towel" over my leather seat and called it a night - and went and saw "The Fast and the Furious" which I actually liked.
So, to make a long post longer
I'm going to wait until the humidity really cranks up before I go out and start again.
I hope that I can make her my daily driver again soon just using the stock computer/chip while I learn how to use my programmable Haltech computer. So, again, we'll see! Thank you very much for the help and offer - don't leave the country. I'll keep you posted,
