Hard Starting

I've got a 305 TBI, and lately it seems to be starting harder than normal. It used to start without any cranking, and now sometimes it will start, and as its coming back down to idle, it will die. Then it acts as though its flooded when i try and restart it. Any suggestions?? I thought either fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. Any ideas on what i could do??

Get your base timing checked out. It sounds like a timing problem to me. If the base timing checks out okay then look at the spark plugs to see if it's running too rich. Only need to look at a couple plugs. My next step would be to go to the parts store and pick up some new wires and distrib rotor and cap. If that doesn't fix it than you have something else wrong. If the SES light is coming on then get that checked out. I'm just assuming you aren't getting an SES light and that is why I think it's the timing.
Keep us updated and what you find to be the problem.

Timing is something that i need to check. I put on a new cap and rotor, plugs, and accel coil and wires, but never really have checked the timing, which i NEED to do. So, i'll give that a try and hope it fixes it. It just seemed to much like a fuel problem to me, but hopefully not. Thanks
