S/R Torquer 305 heads VS. edel. centerbolt heads?

What would be a better choice, SB-Chevy S/R Torquer 305 heads, or edelbrock centerbolt heads? I will be running a cam(what I dont know)and new pistons. thanks!

Aren't the edelbrocks aluminum? And i've also read somewhere that they flow better than torquers. But they are also more expensive and they are 60cc (i think). The torquers are 58cc which would keep your stock compression. Since you're getting new pistons put in and you decide to go with the edelbrock heads, get pistons that will help bring the compression back up.

the compression loss isn't really that great a deal, it is still right aroudn the 9:1 mark even with the bigger chambers. the advantage of the edelbrocks is that the aluminum will save you about 50lbs right off the front of the car, aluminum cools better, and the bigger valves allow more intial air and more total air into the engine.
the torquers do cost about 300 bucks less, you won't lose any compression and they do have th esame port volume and actually a little better port design for generating intial air velocity at low lift.
over all i went for the edelbrocks because i believe they are a better head in the long run, i plan to use them on this motor as well as the next motor i build.

Edelborck probly has better quality but I just read an article in one of the new chevy mags where they took a 305 tpi and put those S/R 305 Torquer heads on and got 51 more HP! Not only that, their lowest hp rating with the new heads was higher than the stockers at redline. Not to mention that they only changed the heads, not even fuel pressure. I just looked it up and it was in the summer 2001 issue of Camaro Performance Magazine. I was sceptacle of the quality of wolrd products stuff, but these were professionals that put these heads on. They brought that 305 tpi to 266 hp, and 300 somethin' torque. Not to shabby...I think I am sold. With a little porting to may get flow numbers similar to Edelbrock. Also swap the rockers with better ones and those heads will make even more hp. I know this was on a TPI car but I assume it will skyrocket the performance of our cars to.
