Open element Questions

Ok, I have an open element laying around, but can not get the sensor out of the stupid stock housing. It is in there too good. It feels like something will break if I try to get it off. Are there any tricks to getting it out, or do I have to either break something, or buy a new one? It appears to unscrew from the housing, but won't move at all.

Sorry, it's the IAT. I tried it again this morning, but it's being a b!$&h. Well, does anyone know how much these things generaly run? It would be nice to still have one in the stock, so when winter rolls around I'm not pumping freezing air into my engine. Power isn't very helpful on ice.

I just pinched it tight with a pair of pliers and pulled really really hard. It came out.

I don't know what is up with mine, but it is screwed into a large square copper nut that is tach welded to the filter housing. I have tried uncrewing it, but it is stuck pretty good. I've even tried 2 people unscrewing it, but it won't budge. Just bends a little. I guess I will go with the resistor. How much resistance do I need? I don't want it to think it is too cool.

just get a hammer and smash the thing back out. Just kidding.

It has a metal jacket on it that you have to squeeze and then pull it out. You may need to work it out and not just pull.

I was able to get the nut off with a large wrench. try one way then the other... keep going back and forth.... it will come off.
At least if you have the sensor off, you can just hook it up and set it off to the side.

Well, I just used a resistor. I think it was a 3.6k ohm. It seems to work pretty good. But, thanks for the info.
