Hey snuflupigus, whats the latest on the Monster TBI

I hope you don't give up after all this work.I got a 383 pipe dream that depends on a good sized TBI to make it work.Probably down the road a couple years. At least get a prototype made and test it, otherwise you'll never know how good it is.What about a tech school student doing it(prototype) for a project?Talk to the local school. Get that bad boy going,it will generate it's own intrest. If it works as good as it should the money for production should start coming in.Talk to us Snuffy.

well, i will leave them un named, but somebody has contacted me about helping to fund the project, however, im very leary about showing anybody anything, though i did post a page with pictures, but i beleive he seems to be a very busy man, and i may have made it to difficult security wise to show him my renderings for him to take the time to look at them. I guess neither one of us is brave, or trusting enough to take a leap of faith in the other to make this partnership a reality.

so, since that hasnt gone anywhere, i have a friend who atends a local community college, and i think im going to have him try to build me a wooden model that could be testable for a short period of time on an engine. he also does some machine stuff too, but im not too keen on having my idea in front of so many eyes.
ive received quotes around 500 for a prototype from a few local and respected shops. and ive emailed several shops ive found on the net with no success of finding anybody interested.
ive went to a local speed shop who has a cnc, and they are too busy until october, and their cnc is outdated, so it will cost more to make it because it will take them longer than an up to date shop. however, they were very interested and were excited to have a chance at working with me, but just dont have the time for a while.
i asked taz if his family's shop had an open machine, but they are all busy, and hes been workin hard on summer school.
so. im down to just waiting until i have an spare 500 sitting around really, and since ive bought the 69 camaro, my priorities temporarily changed, but im back to thinking about the tbi. im getting into chip burning gradually too. so that cost me some money. and as you may or may not know, the 69 is going to have a full wiring harness from a 92 camaro in it, minus a few things like tail lights and the sir system, (airbag) and radio stuff.
i really wanted to have something by this summer, but that doesnt look like its going to happen. If i can find a machine shop that takes credit cards, i would have one by now .

so, maybe this winter ill get it rolling again. i still have much faith in my design, but sometimes i just think, hell, maybe it is better to just go 4bbl for something so extreme, only a working prototype can tell. my mathmatical calculations are hard to trust since my skills are rusty and the info im using to decide what the maximized, ideal bore diameter is when considering, velocity vs. volume. anybody who has better calculus skills than me, feel free to tell me.

theres your update. if i dont have anything by next summer, odds are ill make everything public domain and you can build one if you have the means, and send me one to be nice.

o ya, and any donations would be refundable if you were to purchase one, or if i didnt receive enough to build a prototype. if i had 250, i would front the rest and build it today.

I have extensive machinist/CNC back ground and $500 sounds pretty reasonable to me for the amount of machining opperations involved. You ought to jump on it and get one made.Poeple are going to be reluctant to send you money for something thats still just a theory. You can't sell out of an empty wagon, so to speak.I know that I wouldn't buy one before the kinks were worked out. Please dont take this as being negative,I think you have a good Idea, and I don't want to see it die.I even think that there is a market for a good 2" unit.Especially if it bolted right on a four barrel manifold with out needing a adapter.Every body with a 4 barrel man. could use more hood clearence for a taller air cleaner. You can't depend on finding a 454 TBI unit, and I'm not impressed with what I've heard about the Holly TBI.Maybe you should make some 2" ones first.Might be easier to tune.Probably sell quite a few, than use the money to work out the bugs on the bigger unit.I think drag racers would want to convert to FI if they could just slap one on their favorite manifold.
If you believe in your dream just keep inching forward.

you are correct, im going to make the 2" unit first now, since im not sure the larger one will work better than a 4bbl or not.

it will need an adapter, but, that comes with it. as well as the air cleaner adapter. Its a 3 peice unit.

as for kinks, i think i think ive worked 99% out in autocad solids. its nice to see it all in 3d and be able to play with it. i also have many foam models.

as for the empty cart, check your email.

and i never really expected anybody to send $, its sort of a joke, but ive never hessitated to ask, you never know where theres a millionare with big pockets that may share you dreams.
