I've read the article about adjusting the timing. I understand about unplugging the wire on the passenger side of the car and all. My problem is i just got a timning light and i don't know how to set the timing to 4 degrees. For the LO3 i hear that's pretty good.

 

with key off unplug tan/black wire . hook your timing light to the correct batt. terminals and to plug wire #1 which is the front most cylinder on the driver side. Start up & move dist until your at 4 degrees BTDC at idle, tighten dist & recheck. Hook tan wire up and your rollin...

 

1. Disconnect the brown w/black tracer wire
2. Start the car and let it warm to temp
3. Check idle to make sure it's at spec
4. Connect the timing light according to directions provided with light
5. Loosen the distibutor hold-down clamp with a tool designed for such a purpose (9/16)
6. Point the timing light at the timing mark on the dampener which is in between the water pump and the block
7. Rotate the distributor untill desired timing is achieved, I run 6 deg. advanced
8. Tighten disributor hold down clamp
9. Re-check timing to make sure mark has not moved
10. Shut off car
11. Reconnect everything, and disconnect the battery cable to clear code 42 which is set when the brown w/ black tracer wire is disconnected
12. Your done
