Open element??
Open element??
I read snflupigus's article on installing an open element but i still have a question....what do you do about the vaccum hose that was coming out of the manifold?
I did mine years ago but I don't remember one coming out of the MANIFOLD to the air cleaner. There is one coming from the TBI that you simply plug. Maybe I am wrong but I am pretty sure that there is none from the manifold.

I was shocked to see that companies sold a taillight
set for a rustang! Since when do they have taillights????

If that is what you are referring to that is what heats the base of the throttle body so it can operate properly in cold temperatures. I just disregarded mine and plugged the vaccuum line up. Some say that it can cause problems when it gets cold and your car runs funny but in 3 years here in Ohio where it gets to sometimes 5 or 10 degrees on a warm day in winter, I have had no problems.

Ain't nuttin' wrong with the screw in the end of the vacuum hose. I ran mine like that for multiple years. You can't even see it unless you pull the air cleaner off.
