Re: TBI EGR help

The EGR system is the only one the computer checks, so you will set an SES light without it being there and working. You would need a custom chip burned with the code 32 turned off and the EGR functions programmed out to get rid of it.
That said, why do you want to remove it? It does help you get better gas mileage on the highway, and its closed at WOT and does not hurt you.

Agreed. Other than the engine clutter factor, there really is no point in tossing it....

Re: TBI EGR help

well i just put on a new exhaust and i had the shop cut the cat off and run all new 2.5 pipe back to the flowmaster.
now its running like **** with the air pump running and the pipe for the cat not connected to anything. can i just drill a hole in the exhaust pipe and weld the AIR pipe in it?

Re: TBI EGR help

It's much easiier to pass smog with the air pump off, and catalytic converter on, then it is vice versa. Since you already have the catalytic converter off, just get yourself a smog delete pulley, and call it a day...

Re: TBI EGR help

you dont even need a smog delete pulley u can just pull the whole pump off and get a longer belt and reroute your belt. Thiers a picture in the tech department of this website.
