What should a cars Idle be when first turned on.

My car Idles at about 1200 rpms when I turn it on, then it drops down slowly as the engine heats up, is this normal? Also, the oil pressure stays pretty high when I turn the car on and then goes back to normal after its heated too..

Is it supposed to be like this?

This is normal. The car warms up "better" at higher rpms. Around 2300 is where most small blocks get best oil flow to cam shaft and rockers etc.
