did a search, my situration is unique, maf tbi help

i am doing a 383 tbi motor for my 87 chevy k-5 blazer.. emmissions do not matter and this is a stick shift so tranny linkage and or control do not apply

i already have a holley 670 tbi unit, trick flow heads (cnc duttweiler ones) and 1 3/4 headers (long tubes) long way from the goal, but i do not want to mess around with tuning....

i have not chosen a mainfold, but i assume i will so with a air gap edelbrock with tbi adapter..

how exactly is this maf setup done, i read the sticky but wasn't terribly in depth... what do you actually need, and how does a ls1 ecm control a tbi unit , how does all this feed into your current wiring harness

the cam will be a fairly small xtreme energy grind.. (probably the 4x4 grinds) with around 220 duration as torque is main concern and will only probably rev to 5000-5500

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but this motor won't make half the power it's capable of without tuning. MAF isnt' a silver bullet, it's quicker and easier to tune, but still REQUIRES tuning.

Learn to tune or slap on a carb no other way around it.

i understand that, i am a former 5.0 mustang owner and have gone from HCI setups to votech to procharger... but i only needed one tune for a particular setup (unless a racegas setup was needed as well)...

also i had dyno shops do the tune.... would they be able to do this for me in this situation.... i almost bought a pms but sold car before going that route...

Mustang MAF setups are much different than GM MAF setups. Not knocking the ford stuff, but it is MUCH simplier than GM setups. Tuning would help the ford stuff as well, fueling is only a single aspect of tuning. Timing, idle charactristics and AE fueling all need to be retuned for a new combo.

If you can find a shop that can do TBI then yeah you could go that route. You're gonna pay an arm and a leg along with your first born child to have it done, but it sounds like you are used to doing that. As long as you have a laptop the tuning equipment only cost about $150.
