.544 lift cam

.544 lift cam

i got my cam back from the shop after getting it dialed in to find the lift do u guys think that a .544 lift cam is too much or is perfect for my 355,will i have a problem passing inspection its gonna be a daily driver

Nothing wrong with that lift as long as the clearances are checked. The more more lift the better. Too much duration is what makes a cam unstreetable.

Do larger lift cams pull more vacuum, or is it the duration that pulls vacuum? The reason I ask is, I had some friends who put a cam with about that lift in a car and had to run a vacuum canister to keep their brakes.

Duration and overlap affect vacuum. Too much duration and overlap = no vacuum.

Put simply, overlap is the amount of degrees both valves (intake and exhaust) are open at the same time.

at www.compcams.com they have a great article about all that cam stuff you want to know.
