Noticeable gain? Hmm..

Hey, i'm finally getting my cowl hood installed tomorrow and i'm wonderin this: i'm getting a K&N (5inch height) to replace the stock one in the open element setup and i also have a k&n xstream lid waiting to go on when the car is done. Question, aside from the difference i noticed when i first put on the open setup, will i notice any additional gains from this (cooler fresh air from the NICE opening (4inch cowl), higher filter and xstream lid). I posted this in th general engine section but only go one response...SO....yea

you will feel a bit more throttle response for sure. the top end power will pick up a bunch. you should try to make your self a cowl pan. the more of that nice outside air you can duct into the motor the better

Cowl duct eh? When it rains, will i experience any water in the filter or will that just run off?

I dont think so, unless you are driving backwards the rain will just run over the hood onto the windshield, I dont think it will fall into the openeing.

maybe 3% hp gain. that number comes from my opinion after reading a while ago a test done: stock, cold air, (which is equal to open el), and ram air.
i think by adding open el, and cold air, should give you a slightly less new gain than the gains you experienced with just the open el.
