Confused idle on start-up...

I realize that I am far from an F-body, but my engine controls are almost exactly the same, minus and IAT.

When I start my van, the idle goes up and the quickly drops and then shoots back up again and....about 700-1200 rpm range.

If you tap the gas, it'll stop for the most part. The first time you come to a stop the idle is fine. I have ALL NEW sensors, so now it's down to what is just not operating properly.

first i hafta say that your ride sounds sick, and i think that is beautiful

have you checked/replaced you IAC? if it is messed up and not responding properly it will cause the idle to dart around until the motor is warn enough to just close it all the way.
also check the adjustment on the throttle position sensor. it should read .5 volts at idle. if it is not or if it does not come back to the same stop once reved that could cause it to think it is being reved a bit when it really isn't.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I got it nailed down tonight before I checked the post.

I had to use a '91 fullsize pickup ECM (1227747) to run the 350 because in '92 they changed some of the ECM and wiring harness pinouts on the Astro. Turns out they had switched the two ground wires at the IAC and not the ECM.

I switched them and bingo. I'm out to eat some Mustangs...

all my pictures are here. But beware, I also have a Fox-body Mustang!

And yes, my van is WAY faster than the Fixed-On-Race-Day mobile.

don't forget to view page 2 of Shoebox, that's where the lastest pics are.
