Who all is running the Edelbrock TBI intake on a 305 LO3????
How much of a difference did it make????? And MOST IMPORTANT,
Would you buy it again????? I know this is a beat subject, but am going to try to get an intake, and would like all the input I can get......Thanks, Tom

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
Robertfrank, thanks for the heads up..........I just cant decide what intake to use...Was thinking about a single plane with the TBI adapter on it, but am afraid it wont clear the stock hood......TOO MANY CHOICES...........

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
I am also running the Edelbrock Performer TBI intake manifold. As robertfrank said it made my car pull much harder across the whole powerband. I really can't compare how it changed the performance by itself because I rebuilt the engine and added many other performance parts at the same time.

Yeah I am running 3.73s in it. It really does pretty well on gas mileage though.

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
I was going to start a new thread, but this one
is already going in several directions I'm interested
in, and I know galileo is considering the 3.73 gear
change also.
First the 3704 question.
I'm starting with a 2" throttle body, that will be sitting
atop a juice injector plate, with 2" bores, so the main
consideration is overall flow, rather than throttle blade
clearance. There's 2 options:
1) Have the ports bored by the local machinist, expected
cost $50 - 75.
2) Taper the bores, which I can do myself.
Any thoughts on the performance difference vs. cost-effectiveness?
3.xx gears:
If the 700R4 is the o-d automatic, does anybody have a
correctly calibrated speedo, to indicate 60mph vs. rpm,
for both the 3.23 & 3.73 ratios?
thanks,
kk

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
Hey long distance, Im not worried about the 2 inch bore right now (will be some day) I just want to know if this is a good intake............
I must have the 3.73 gears, and my 3.23 gears are yours...........
I know the OD will handle them ok.......
I dont know if I should get the TBI intake, or a single plane intake......If it was a carb, I would know what to do, but this is my first fuel injection ride...Come on guys chime in on this for me.....................I know there are a lot of threads on this, but help me out on this..Wish I had a 2 inch cowl hood...Thanks, Tom

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
I had one on my car before the TPI swap. Mine is an early version that has the removeable "torque tubes" as edelbrock calls them which let you change where the power band is. Tubes in keeps it down low while no tubes moves it up into the midrange. I ran without the tubes when I had my 3.73 rear which helped it some.

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
Tom,
Toss that old nifty-fifties corroded alum 4-brl intake
into the lizard cage for a pedestal, and snag a 3704.
Everybody says its an improvement, & it's bolt-on
compatible, including the off-set center bolts.
Cost-benefit is the only real question. New at $340+
is debatable, e-bay for $150 becomes much easier.

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
Im not to concerned with milage right now...I dont drive far to work anyway, and hardly ever drive my car for anything serious....Which way to go, Edelbrock TBI Intake, or a single plane Intake??? Any of you guys know of dyno studys on this????? what about drivability, ie: Throtle response???

Well if 21mpg on the highway sounds bad then I think you must be use to driving a iron duke with 2.73s. But seriously I get around 15-16mpg when I am easy on it in town. About the same as my dads 2001 Silverado 5.3 4x4 with 3.73s.

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
249 dollars at summit, and jegs...Summit is 5 cents cheaper..........I just cant decide if I want the single plane, or the TBI intake......I've heard real good things about single planes with TBI....It makes sense to me that with the fuel being pushed (Injected) into the intake you would not lose low end response, but still have great hi RPM....I know im making a big deal out of this, but money is so tight, and I want the most bang for my buck.......Im going to get one or the other this week...Whatever I get I will want to use it on the 350 im getting this next month....Wont have it ready to use for awhile, but I will be working on it....Tom
BTW, Long distance, do the 350's have that weird off set bolt, or is that just the 305 heads??????

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
I have the edelbrock TBI intake, here are my thoughts: Pros: easy to install, everything converts from the old intake to the new one, clears stock hood, no adjustments needed to the throttle cable, documented hp increase I gained 9hp and 11lbs tq I also did the ultimate TBI mods, K&N Open Element, along with the Intake so how much power I gained from just the intake alone I don't know. Cons: I don't know how it will flow on a 350, need to bore it out for a 2in TBI which I am sure you will be using on a 350. I paid 214 for mine so that, plus a weekends work made it worth it for me.

Ive already got cool air, ram air setup with K&N filter, have done some of the TBI mods with Injector Pod Spacer, so I probably would'nt get alot out of the intake then.....Kinda thinking a Single Plane might give better results...I know it is alot more work tho......Thank you very much for your reply

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
The TBI intake is a great stock replacement, has the ability to be bored, and should support a solid amount of power on a hot 305 or mild 350. On a stock LO3 though you shouldn't focus on power gains but instead the learning opportunity to properly install an intake manifold.

Re: Edelbrock TIB Intake
Well thank you, I've changed probably around 25 intakes,or so..(Raced Dodges for years). The learning I can do without...LOL.....Just never had a computer controlled vehicle before.....Im just curious the differences of carbed (Which I know well) and Fuel Injection.....I see what you mean about the intake not being the bottle neck.........Well, maybe, I will go ahead, and cam cam it while im at it.....I thank all you guys gor letting me pick your brains on this subject, Tom
