Answers & Opinions Needed
I was driving home yesterday when I noticed my engine was running hotter than normal, but not overheating.
After a thorough check I found out the car was almost out of oil and there is a noticeable leak under the engine. I'm almost certain its the rear main seal, since I've known about this particular leak for several months....it was never this bad until now.
Now for the questions:
1-What is an approximate cost for fixing this?
2-Does it require removing the engine?
If it does, I will probably get an LT1 cam and timing chain installed as well.
3-Will an LT1 cam work well with the LO3 chip?
4-Has anybody swapped to this cam and passed emissions?
Any informative opinions are welcome!

according to the math the LT1 cam will have only about 1/4 inch less vacuum than the stock peanut. this should not effect the operation of the computer at all. you will need to run a little more timing advance and fuel pressure to compensate for the cam, but the computer operation will be uneffected. you will need a custom chip to get everything out of the cam though.
since it won't bnother the computer and it will have plenty of vacuum to operate your EGR i can't see why it wouldn't pass emissions.
i will be able to tell you soon enough, more on that in another post

I don't agree completey with Speeder although he is somewhat corect. You will most likely need a new chip. However I believe that the ANLU bin will help you out tremendously. You will see a gain in performance and emissions shouldn't be a problem if you can get the right chip work done.
No you don't have to removehe engine to put in a new cam

My mechanic told me it would cost about $350 to replace the rear main seal. He said he wouldn't have to remove the engine, just the tranny. Don't have the time or tools to attempt it myself.
Thanks for the info.
