i have read alot into the come in for a free tume and actually started LEARNING about it! i hope your proud lol. i have a question before i read on and forget..with my lo3, i read that it the chip burner could not burn my stock chip only read it, so if i use a flash chip, does that mean that chip is practically BLANK and i have to somehow program all of the stock info onto this chip? i also might have read that thats what you do is kind of a copy and paste thing??? i hope this question is intelligent enough for you

I'll try to answer your questions here in order.
The moates burn1 will only burn flash programable chips, so yes you will have to convert over to the bigger flash chips if you want to use this particular burner. Trust me flash chips are the only way to go as the old style stock UV erasable chips are a complete pain in the but and require a 50$ UV eraser. All you need is the burner with the flash chips.
You won't have to completely write up a new tune, it doesn't work like that. You start with a stock .bin file, and then modify from there. Your first step would be to read your stock chip, then burn it to the new bigger chip following the offset instructions on Moates' website. Once you know you have the ecm up and running on your chip you can start changing things and tuning.
This is the type of thinking I like to see, keep reading and it'll all come together one piece at a time. Chip burning will really help you realize whats going on inside of your engine, it's one of the most valuable learning tools I've ever used.

I think he will also need the G2 adaptor to use the flash chips. Which SS is correct about, they are the way to go.
