Yep. Or you can get the Vortec specific TBI intake manifold from Scoggin Dickey.

If you drill the heads for your tbi intake you will find out that the intake ports on the heads will be exposed at the top. In other words the vortec heads have a taller intake port than the stock heads do. Just get the vortec tbi intake and don't ruin a good set of heads. Save yourself the time and headache.

ok.. thanks for the advice guys.. I wasen't aware of the intake port issue.. just the guy rebuilding it told me for an extra 100 bucks(canadian) he would drill and tap the heads so I could keep my 6 month old edelbrock performer tbi intake. I priced out the tbi intake from gm performance that fits the vortec heads.. they want $600 + tax canadian for it.. and thats my trade price that they give me.. apparently it normally retails for 850. I had seen an intake that was modified to fit on ebay a few weeks ago.. should have jumped on it.. I think it went for 75..

apparently there's some type of egr kit you need to use the tbi to vortec heads intake?
????

sorry about all the questions.. I'd like to have all bases covered before getting into this.. I'm not in a hurry to get this done as I am fortunate enough to be able to use the company vehicle t'ill the spring..

Get the vortec intake manifold. You don't want to mess with the intake match and go through the trouble of getting the heads done. As for the EGR kit, yes you'll need an external kit. It's best to get an intake manifold that has the EGR AND Vortec provissions, if it wasn't so late I would look it up for you. There is a website that has the external EGR kit for something like $50. That is if you REALLY need to keep EGR.

Just get the Edebrock Victor Vortec intake and a TBI adapter plate. Easy way to 350HP+.

GM Vortec intake for TBI is part#12496821
($309.50) and requires GM Exhaust Manifold #12557828 or Edelbrock External EGR Adapter Ket #2899 if using headers. Also need GM#10220275 EGR Supply Tube to connect them.
Intake available from Scoggin-Dickey.
