The big question: What are the best heads for a 305 TBI? TELL ALL!
Eh, I think I'm gonna do it.
What I mean is, I'm going to buy heads. NOW. BECAUSE I MUST HAVE MORE POWER.
I was going to get the SBC Torquers from World Products; I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
But keeping money in mind (let's keep it around 800 bucks, if not lower) what are the best heads that will give me the best results? Remember, I want to launch this baby into the 12's. :P

I really think for you, the S/R Torquers are the best bet. Here's why:
1. Already 58CC's (no need for milling)
2. Springs good to .520" Lift (1.6 Rockers can be used with that LT1 Cam)
3. With a $150 porting job, they flow very good.
4. No need to swap intakes and they keep the EGR.
Vortecs are nice but the springs are only good to .450" Lift, they need major machining to work well on 305's and they also need a different intake setup and don't have egr provisions except the external (plumb your own egr) kit..
Edelbrocks are nice too, but arn't recommended for 305's unless the cam lift is less than .450"... Plus they are expensive..

Yeah, I'd have to agree. The world products heads are good little heads.
Although, they are iron. I'm thinking that if you want 12's with a 305 TBI, you might want to consider finding a set of aluminum heads. Aluminum heads are one of the easiest ways to shave weight. You're changing them anyways, and you don't have to scrape the backing off of you carpeting, and have seats with no stuffing to lose the extra 40 pounds. I don't know if the Edelbrock E-tecs are millable, but you might want to look into a similar set of low priced aluminums. Maybe a used set.

No guts, no glory.

iwould saythat the torquer 305's or the edelbrock performer centerbolts are the way to go. the vortecs are great but i don't think you will be able to keep your EGR with them if emissions are important to you.
i run the edelbrocks personally. they have 2.02/1.60 valves (yes they work on a 305) and they are aluminum which is about a 75lbs savings. they only drawbacks are that they have a 60cc combstion chamber, which will knock down the compression a touch and that they are a straight plug design so you will have tight plug wire clearances when used with headers.
the torquers are iron and use 1.96/1.50 valves. they are a direct bolt on replacement much like the edelbrocks. they have a 58cc chamber just liek our stock heads so you will keep all of your compression. they are also a lot cheaper than the edelbrocks. one draw back wioth world products is that they will not tell anyoen their flow numbers. they will not publish them or tell you on their tech line, that is about as good their customer service gets.
i got th eedelbrocks because i figured i could just put them onto whatever small block i decide to build(305 or 350 or 400).
hope this helps
