TB WON'T PRIME ON STARTUP
TB WON'T PRIME ON STARTUP
It's been slightly difficult to start my LO3 lately and it occasionally stalls at lights. I noticed that the TB isn't spraying when I turn the key to "run". Aren't the injectors supposed to spray prior to startup? I rebuilt the injectors about 8 mos ago so they should be fine. When the car eventually starts the spray pattern is appropriately conical. I also replaced the fuel filter within the past 8 mos. The only thing I can think of is may be the battery isn't putting out enough power but it cranks the engine just fine so that can't be it. Oh, I also replaced the fuel pump relay as well - same problem. What I don't get is eventually the injectors must fire or it wouldn't start. Any ideas as to what's going on?

The injectors are not supposed to fire until the engine is actually turning over. Firing them when the key is in the "on" position but the engine is not running would be a great way to flood the engine.

So the engine doesn't get a shot of fuel fromt the TB prior to startup? In the past I could have sworn I saw it spray at the same time I heard the pump prime prior to startup.

The pump primes in order to build up pressure. You shouldn't see fuel leaving the injectors until the engine actually cranks. If you do the you have leaky injectors

Your fuel system may be letting the fuel run back into the tank. When it dies at red lights, does it start right back up, or does it take awhile? There is a check valve in the fuel pump that keeps the fuel from running back into the tank. Just a tip from my experiences never rule out anything because it is only so and so old. I have had brand new parts that were worse than the broken parts that were taken off.
