What do you think of this manifold...

I'm think I'm going to try this manifold. I want EGR, and I want to be able to tow stuff later on, so I don't think I should use the 7525 or 7547 like said before.

Tell me what ya think.

looks like a cross between the performer and the performer RPM.

I think it's a great choice for his app. If he wants EGR, he gots it... If not, block it off. The cam they recc on that page will show you how much cam it can take. I would try the manifold... BUT, probably a bit bigger than the Performer, as Tas implied, so if you truly are rarely going to see 5000+rpm, I would just use the EGR-ready Performer... Cheaper, too, I bet

I'm trying to stay away from Edelbrock.

Go with the Weiand, then. It'll work just fine.

Fast-broker I see that you are a big fan of the Edelbrock Performers. When do you think that you should step up to an rpm over the regular performer ?

I believe it's an RPM, Peak HP, peak HP RPM and PEAK Torque RPM consideration. Ie, 350cid that will ever rev to 6000k regularly should use RPM and/or if you want your torque peak at/below 4000rpm, use the Performers, 4500+, use the RPM. If daily driver/tower/non-raer, I will suggest Performer every time. A properly built 350cid with a Performer, 600-650 carb and Comp XE256 cam can make 350hp all day and over 420lb-ft all night and IS A VERY FAST COMBO FOR THE STREET. You might get 10-20hp more with an RPM and a bigger carb, but at the loss of a little low-rpm torque. Torque is what gets you going... Again, for drag racer RPM will work fine, but for every-day blah blah street use, a person will be much happier with an Performer. Ever see the intake runners on those manifolds? Performers are quite large and close to the size of good heads and the RPM's are much larger than most heads, making the heads a bottleneck and the mismatched holes of the intake/head interface a turbulent area... ie, the head intake ports are smaller than an RMP's ports, creating a "lip" to flow around. Not good... Better to have smaller/same size intake runner and larger head port, no lip present, less turbulence...

It's not so much that I love Edelbrock manifolds. I do use others but I have tons/years of experience with them, clients demand them and they are talked about a lot on this board. Plus, they just plain work and are cheap(er)...

I have a Weiand Stealth on my 70 Nova SS 396,and I think it's a great manifold.Excellent at both off-Idle and 6000RPM! Closest you can get to having the best of both worlds (Single Plane/Dual Plane).
Although mine's on a big block, I doubt that you'll be dissapointed with the small block version.

Fastbroker, what carb would you recommend in the combo you mention above? I have a similar cam, and am looking for a good carb/intake combo. My primary interest is driveability, since the car will be my daily driver. I have virtually no experience with carb tuning, so would you recommend an Edelbrock? Would a 750 be too big? Thanks, and I apologize for this being a little off-topic.

a 600cfm Edelbrock should be just fine. Might have to get the tuning kit, too, to dial in mileage and best performance... I'd get the 1406, Electric choke version and go from there.

fast_broker thanks for the intake info. I'm thinking of using one of these intakes with a set of 305 TPI heads on a 305 with an LT4 cam and 1.6 rollers with a shift point around 5500. Daily driver with a few yearly open track days at Road Atlanta. Reg or RPM? Thanks

I'd say Performer. You could get a little more top end with the RPM, but personally, I'd use the Performer if it were my car.

After going and measuring the ports on the actual manifolds in the store the performer's are smaller than the heads that I have and the RPM's ports are the same size. I'm going to check for hood clearance and will choose from there. I may up the cam spec's in the future I'm not sure and I don't want the intake to be a bottleneck.
