Next Mod For My LO3?

Ok Guys, I just installed my K&N Open Element with a K&N Sheilded Breather, it looks nice, and boy, did i notice a difference! My car responded to this mod really well! Thanx! Now my question is what is the next step? I have no problems passing emmisions, so i'm gonna take my cat out! Is that good? Oh yeah, i heard people talking about taking the A.I.R. off? What is that, is that good to do? If so, where is it? How do i take it off? Any pics or website that shows how? Thanx?

The A.I.R. consists of the smog pump, located below the AC Compressor,AIR Diverter valve, behind the AC Compressor, and the tubes from the pump to the cat, and to both exhaust manifolds.Eliminating all that will save some weight and you'll gain a little power from no longer driving the pump.I believe there's a tech article on how to route the serpentine belt without the smog pump. You'll have to plug the holes in the exhaust manifolds, and the tube that goes to the cat won't be a problem if the cat is gone! All this stuff is required here in California for emissions testing,so I don't have the option of removing mine, but I think it will make a difference.Replace the exhaust manifolds and stock Y-Pipe (with headers and new Y-Pipe)when you remove the cat, and you'll feel a big difference.

Hey man, welcome to the board. I haven't gotten to meet u yet, name is Eric. Anyways, I see ur just starting to mod your car. With the help of thirdgen.org and Nic (the moderator) and myself I made a nice site for people just starting out with their 305 TBI's. Has pictures, installtion instructions, part numbers, and do's and don't on these engines and cars. Everyone that has used it loves it and says it helps them out a lot. Check it out if u want. Its the second site in my signature.

If I were u I would do the exhaust. Get a nice 3" cat-back, delete the cat with a 3" pipe welded in its place and a nice set of Edelbrock TES Headers #6872 (coated) or SLP Headers if u want to pay the extra bucks and get those coated. All that stuff and picutres of it are at the site if u need anymore info on it. Hope it helps. E-mail me or post on here if u have any questions. Theres a lot us of on here who have been in ur shoes and can point u in the right direction. Just depends on how fast u wanna go.

i would defintly second the exhaust as the next palce to look.. the stock stuff aint any good and is really restrictive.. defintly headers with y-pipe and catback is what you would want to do next..

Also, I would look into a posi unit from SLP and maybe some GM Motive 3:73 or 3:42 rear end gears. To this day the best mod I have done to my car.
