removing smog pump, Less mpg???

Im about to install headers on my bird and
I've been thinking of removing the smog pump on my 91 firebird for even more power, if I do is it true I'll be getting less miles per gallon?

Oh and if I remove the pump I have to remove the a.i.r. system along with it right

Ill appreciate all answers

thanks

if your removing your air pump, then its no use having the hoses there because they are driven by the air pump. If you remove those then you'll have to remove the pump, hoses, canister, and plug up the holes off your headers. THen you gotta take your belt off, and make a piece of rope to see what size belt you need after the pump is removed.

btw, i seriously doubt you'll get more noticable miles per gallon. your front end will be lighter and less lag on the belt will give youa few horses
