BREATHER PROBLEM?
BREATHER PROBLEM?
Ok, when i installed the open element, i saw that my stock breather that is connected to the stock snorkel, "that little white sponge", was soaked in gas, at least i think it was gas? I took it off, and i saw that their was an extremely brown fluid on the little rubber hose, smells like gas. Would anyone know what this might be? I know i need to put new gaskets on my valve covers, but i don't think that has anything to do with it? Thanx for any info guys! Laters!

you mean the thing that goes to your valve covers... Isn't that where oil is? I just put my breather snug up to the OE. Fits perfect.
not sure on the fluid though... Sorry

That sponge like thing your talking about is the crank case breather filter. When there is not enough vacuum to the pcv valve the presure inside the crank case is relived here and the gases are sucked into the air filter. The gas smell is from gas blowing by the piston rings into the crank case and the brown slimmy stuff is oil.
Thanx for that last comment, now i know what it really is, but what i wanted to know, is it normal to be spitting out oil like that? I remember when i had the factory air cleaner, inside the lid, there would be "i guess oil", i had really never seen that. If it ain't normal, what can the problem be? Thanx again!=)
