Anyone ever seen this before?
This is what kind of sensor I have in my stock TBI filter. I am suposed to be able to remove it to use with the Open element, but it's pretty much made into the housing. If you know what it is, or have even ever seen it before, let me know.
Here are some pics of it.

Okay, first off let me start by saying that is one weird website. Not my buisness but if you don't mind me asking....why?
As for that sensor..it's your MAT or IAT Manifold/Intake Air Temp. You can just zip tie it to your MAP sensor which is on the firewall.
As for the other sensor, scrap it, it's your heat riser. Just be sure to plug the vacuum lines!

That's not my site. It's a friend's site. he has the digital camera, so he posted them on his site so I could get to them. Sorry about that. I did not make that, or have anything to do with it. IT IS NOT MINE!!!
I changed the links so that ya don't have to go to that again.

The AIT Sensor, towards the rear or the air cleaner, can be reinstalled in your new open element air cleaner if you want. I cut a hole in the bottom and remounted it there. The heat riser switch is no longer needed(except possibly at smog time)
Also, relocating the IAT sensor to a cooler area (like ahead of the radiator support) will richen up your fuel mixture and possibly give you a little more power. You'll need to make an extension cable to do this.
Tying it to the MAP sensor on the firewall(or anwhere convenient)would also be fine, if you don't care about how it looks.
Just don't leave it somewhere it'll get melted.

I used a resistor instead of the IAT. I had talked to snflupigus since he wrote the tech article on Open Element Installation. He says he has never seen something like it before. I just want to know how to get the piece of crap put of there. I have tried everything but cutting the actual metal around it. it seems to be welded in there. I don't know how to get it out. Should I just go to a salvage yard and get one? I ahte using a resistor that tells the engine it is 70 when it's actualy 20 degrees. For some reason, that doesn't seem right. The engine runs hard enough on ice at startup as it is. What's with the 1500rpm idle anyway? All I can do is spin when I start it up in the winter. I basicly have to use the park brake until it warms up to keep the wheels from spinning.
Does anyone else have a sensor like this one? If so, how do I get it out?

As for the IAT, I'd have to say that if you're not keeping the old housing, cut away, my friend. If you lack exotic tools, just drill a hole or two, and use a pair of tin snips. Personally, I've never seen a sensor like that, but hey. As for the resistor, JPrevost will tell you there are better ways to enrichen the fuel mixture.

ya, i told him to post these pics because for like 2 days he tried to explain what it looked like and couldnt, finally i said well you could just use the resistor bandaid. He finally go some pics and showed em to me, and i said. WTF is that? ive never seen an iat that looked like that. could it be aftermarket junk or something somebody added before he bought it? one of those gimic things that works like the resistor trick? or could it be that gm got creative one time and said, hey, we gotta leftover from that prototype junker, put it on this car.
well, if nobody has ever seen it, tz, if the plug is different than you see on my article, and you can grab a new iat and plug at your local yard, otherwise just go ****** an iat. little stuff like that, you dont even have to pay for
