Breather Question?

What's up guys! Thanx to everyone for the help on installing my K&N Open Air Element. I have a simple question though. The small rubber hose that was connected to the breather inside the stock snorkel......Ok, when u put the open element, that hose just stays to the side with the stock breather right? In my case, i bought a K&N Breather for it, but that's how it goes right? THanx for the help!

Yeah, I saved my breather tube for smog time, but I'm currently using a K&N shielded breather in that spot, while my open element is on.

I don't know the part number, but just take the breather u have now to the parts store, and compare the K&N breather, mine was not an exact fit, it was a little lose, enough lose that it could've fallen off, so i had to buy a clamp, works great! It looks slick too, cuz it's chromed out, and it lies right next to the open element chrome cover. NICE!

Y not just get a chrome plug=in breather ($5)? Looks cool, stays out of the way, back on the valve cover... u might have to find a performance shop, tho - the size (1"?) of the plug-in breather/grommet needed on our valve covers wasn't the size that my local parts stores stocked...

My impression of the stock breather (correct me if I'm wrong) is that it allows oil fumes into the intake (the oil thats atomized enought to make it through the breather filter and air filter, at least) and this gets combusted in the engine.

If you just let the stock breather sit out too long, the crappy little filter pad could loosen and then you get oily residue all over the engine area?

just measure the breather tube. I think its .75" I got a $4 chrome breater to put in its place. I never messed with the rubber gromet it came with. I just put the new breater in the stock place.
