HELP Car runs horrible when Cold

Hi Guys I posted under General Engine but no response. I have a 305TBI in my 92 RS. This is what it's doing. Just started on Wednesday.

1. When starting it from Cold it cranks up immediately jumps to 1200-1500 RPM and then sputters and then drops to 500 sometimes 400 and then just dies.

2. I have to tap on the Gas Pedal periodically to keep it running and then once it warms up it is driveable. But still struggles like no fuel or something else. When your cruising along on side streets at say 20 and go to punch it normally it's a whoosh and then go's like ****. But now it does a mini whoosh and acts like it's struggling and just picks up speed slowly.

I recently did a Tune Up with Splitfires and replaced the EGR Valve with a OEM Chevy one. Was running fine no crappy gas mileage after the EGR was replaced.

I have no real mods to speak of purely stock. It doe's have a stage 1 chip.

ALso I noticed that when I look at the Throttle Body the Plastic on top and around the Injectors is this ugly putred brown looking color. I checked all the vacuum lines on the EGR and the other lines underneath the Air Cleaner that I took off to put the EGR in and they are fine. Once it get's up to 200-220 Degrees it runs fine. It's just when it's cold or below 160 it runs like dog ****.

In the previous post another user suggested the Fuel Filter and then possibly the Fuel Pump. This Bas**** probably has the Fuel Pump in the gas Tank I bet. Damn I love Camaro's and F-Bodies. Is there a test that I can DIY to determine what the problem is and if it's something simple do myself.

Also could Bad Gas have anything to do with it? When it started doing this Wednesday two days ago now. It was almost empty. Well tonight I put in Amoco 92 Octane. But the car was so quiet sitting there I didn't even remember the engine was running. It Idles at like 500RPM is this Normal.

Please anyone if you have any experience in this problem let me know. I'm in desperate need of a fix.

Thanks

Sounds just like what used to be my problem. Check your Coolant Tempurature Sensor. Mine was fine, but the plug wasnt making a good connection. Also, it should idle (in drive) at 450-500 rpm. Hope that helps!

if you know how to use a voltmeter your in luck, to fix your problem without buying high numbers of expensive ECM controlled parts , you'll need to check your TPS sensor, MAP sensor, IAC sensor, also get yourself a Haynes fuel injection manual this is a big help, it will show you how to check all your fuel injection related parts, thus eliminating the need to hunt for the problem
