L05 heads

Anyone ever thought of or installed L05 heads on their 305?

Just wondering for a replacement scenario-
they are really cheap and larger vavles would seem to help.

Yeah, I don't think the bore of the 305 is beig enuf for the valves to open.

In tother words, the valves on the L05 heads are too far apart to fit inside the bore of the 305.

they fit fine. the cobustion chamber is too big and the heads are not good in the first place. you're better off with 305 TPI heads.

lo5 heads areent worthit.. i looked at the but to much mechine.. if your want better heads that are cheap.. get a set of 305 tpi heads and rebuld them... thats what im doing now no mechine work really and i picked up a set for 100 and im going to replace the vavle springs, and rocker arms and stem seals and put them on.. total cost about 225 or so. just my ideas for the budget minded person..

Maybe cast iron L98 (B2L) heads would be a good choice?

not unless you supercharge it. The chambers are so big your compression goes very low. The only heads that might make so much power that this wouldn't be a big deal are the Vortec L31 heads. Some guy has them on his LG4 here and is running low 14s or high 13s

Wait a sec there, L31 heads have same cc and valve sizes as B2L heads.

With either you'd have to get them milled to avoid comp loss. At least with B2L heads, no new intake is required.

What would the CR change to on an L03 after putting untouched L31 heads on?
