JPrevost, Joby, Scanning Software!!!

I went to hook up the cable I made for WINALDL Version 1.02b and the only connection I could find under the passenger dash. There was a connector with A-H on one side and I-O I think on the other, I don't remember all of them, if you want pictures let me know and Ill post them tonight. Anyhow, I disconnected the A-H and plugged the Ground into A and data into E, The program was started and plugged into com1. I turned the key and the car wouldn't start. So I connected the two connectors (with the data and Ground still there) and the car started. I let it run for a little bit and still no reading.

Do I have the right connector?
Does it sound like I made the cable incorrectly?

Let me know if you need more info. I really want to get this to work.

Thank you!!!

I don't know about the 92 Camaro, but a friend of mine have a 86 IROC. On that the ALDL connector is located under the dash on the driver side near the center of the car.

There should only be a small plastic lid to remove. Nothing should be connected to the ALDL port.

This is what it looks like on my 84 Corvette:

Thanks that would help a lot if it was on the driver side, I'll take a look tonight... Does anyone know where the ALDL is specifically on my car. I guess I was assuming since the computer was there on the passanger side, the ALDL would be there too) Oops

Thanks again.

It'll be on your drivers side just to the right of the fuses. You'll see it. I plugged my wires into the same locations as in Joby's picture and it worked great.

Do they make a aldl connector that you could put the wires into, then plug that into the aldl on the car? Just to clean things up a little...

Mine is located right next to the fuse panel. I'm moving it because my underdash neon tubes make it difficult to hookup the diacom cable.
There is a part number floating around that is for the Autoxray to GM aldl. This cable can be hacked up if you want.
Jim and Popapork are working on a plug mold in some class they're taking at school. That's all I was told and I'm not sure when they'll have some made. I'll post when I get more information about it.

well since I made my own...

I would be willing to paylets see... $4 for 9pin connector. $2 for 5-7 ft cable. $1 for resistors $4 for workmanship and then shipping.

so.. $11 Plus shipping. Max I would pay is $20 all together

pork, get back to us with the cost of meterials, then add shipping and include only like 6" of wire. It will have to cost less than the AutoXray adaptor. I used that and it was like $30 after the handling and stuff.
