GPH flow #'s for big block fuel pump
GPH flow #'s for big block fuel pump
I have searched the archives and found the flow numbers for the small block electric in tank fuel pump which is supposed to flow 29GPH @ 0 PSI. Anyone know what the big block
pump flows and if it will fit in my tank? Thanks for the hlpe.........bob

Don't have the numbers you need but I agree that you are getting close to the limit on that pump. I usually run external TPI pumps (for TPI, TBI and carb) after I drop the tank and remove the pump/filter assembly and replace it with a sock/pickup sock. Just easier to screw with in general if something goes wrong later. This way, you are confident of your fuel supply.
Have you run a FP gage while driving to check for fuel stavation at WOT and high rpm?

I need to look into the external fuel pump thing I guess. That is probably the easiest and most flexible way to go. I have not check FP with a guage, but the pump is old
and I have an intermittent WOT problem which we cannot fix by adding more fuel to the prom.Sometimes the engine pulls strong to 6,500 and sometimes it stops at 5,000 and breaks up.If I back off on the throttle it will still pull to 6,000. Seems I gotta try more flow at the pump so I got to decide which pump to use. I don't know if the big block pump flows enough...........bob
