Service Engine Light hell!

When I turn on the car the service engine light comes on most of the time.If I turn the car off and on again sometime i get the light and sometime i dont.It doesnt appear to drive different when the lights on but it is a mental frustration to have that crap lit while your driving. How can I find out what is causing this?Thanxs

You can 1)buy a code scanner, 2)do the paper clip thing in your ALDL, or 3)take your car into a service station/mechanic who can read it and tell you what it is. It is a ripoff to take your car to a mechanic they will probably charge you $20. If you plan on keeping your car get a good scanner.
