Which injectors to get?

While tuning my engine, I noticed a strange spray pattern on one of the injectors. I removed it to see why, and found out that the circular screen that slides over the tip is warped.

I figure I might as well replace both injectors, considering they have 140+K miles on them.

All of my mods are in my sig, and I do not want to burn another prom.
So, what would be the best injectors to get? Stock, aftermarket, ones for a 350 TBI, .....??

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Thomas.

If you plan on doing more mods like headers and exhaust go ahead and get the 350 injectors. It will run slightly richer but it helped my lean condition at 4000+ rpm and WOT. You would need a custom chip to take FULL advantage of new injectors but stock programming ran ok 4 me.

Thomas;
Been there, done that. I replaced my 305 injectors with the truck 350 ones. Didn't notice much, if any, power increase. I do however, find the warm up circuit to be real rough and black soot out the muffler in the cold months. I can't bring my fuel pressure LOW enough to compensate for this. Save yourself the headache and buy the matched TurboCity injectors (they're cheaper then OEM anyway). Once you have them in, install an adjustable FPR and a gauge. You then can bump UP the pressure a pound or two. I hope this advice helps you, as I would do this if I could go back in time. Hey, by the way- how do you like your 1.6 ratio rockers? They are on my xmas list, and I'd like to hear what you noticed. -Randy

I already have headers, and a 3" cat'back exhaust. I have 3 chips also: one stock, and 2 custom. I do not want to make any changes at this time that will require me to burn another chip.

92RS,

Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into the turbocity injectors. They list for $69.95 a piece. Autozone had the stock injectors for the same price.

The 1.6 rockers were already installed when I bought the car. The prev owner upgraded to a '97 SS (the bastard )

He had the rockers done at the same time the headers and cat'back were installed. He said it was a huge improvement after these upgrades; but I don't know how much just the rockers improved the performance ......

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

Thomas.

dont buy new injectors. you can get a rebuild kit that has new screens orings and gaskets for your pod. your injectors are probably fine. just boost your pressure a bit.

A rebuild kit? Really? That's great!

Where can I pick one up? Do you think a local store will carry it, or is this one of those dealer/internet only things??

Thanks for the info,

Thomas.

Hey is this Stoopalini from ColoradoK5? If so, this is Blaze. Just wanted to say hey.

You can buy a rebuild kit and the screens. I replaced them on the TBI in my 2.8L S-10 Blazer. I paid about $3 for the screens and $30 for the gasket kit. Not a bad price considering you will probably have to buy another gasket when you tear out the old injectors anyway. Good luck with it, bud!
