stumbling at 1200 rpms

Heres the deal. I hold it at 1200 rpm's and after a few seconds, the rpms drop, and the engine runs rough. Anything above 1200 no problems. Below 1200 no problems. I dunno what gives. I should prolly have someone hold it at 1200 and see if the timing changes when it goes south. ok, another problem, which manifested itself at a bad time during a street race in auburn. I was at running temp, parked, I started it up, and it stalled when I put it in gear. It starts back up, but will do the same thing if I don't give it gas. I have a feeling it could be related to the 1200 rpm stumble thing. any ideas?

Running too much base timing and/or too lean will cause it to stall out. A stumble can be cause by a REALLY rich condition but it's more likely to be a lean condition. When have you replaced your fuel filter?
Look at the injectors spray pattern. Does the car run normal in open loop or does it run better after it warms up?
