Timing on the L03

I've heard repeatedly that if you fiddle with the timing you can get some good results. I'm going to look at my chilton to see how to do it, but does anybody have any suggestions, like how much advance or retard? My specs are in my sig (not much at the moment) Any help you guys can give a newbie would be great, thanks in advance!

getting the ideal advance is really a matter of trial and error. Mine works best a 4* advance, while others have better results with more or less. Your best bet is to start at the factory specs of 0* advance, then advance it 2* at a time, take a test drive, and when you get pinging or reduced performace back it off 1* at a time to find your ideal setting.

Alot of manuals are wrong on the timing. Most Chevy V8s are set to 6*, but the all of the 305 TBIs are 0*. If you still have it, check the sticker under your hood, it'll tell you 0*.

1-get a timing light
2-clean/color the timing marks so you can see them
3-connect the timing light to engine
4-disconnect the ESC bypass
5-loosen the hold bolt under the distributor
6-start the car
7-use the timing light to see your timing, rotate the distributor to adjust.

You can find more detailed steps if you look through the archives
