What cam specs are you running?

I want to runa good emission freindly setup wioth my TBI

What duration, lift specs should I get cam wise, to still have a lumpy idle, but be emission friendly, and hold good vacuum.

Also What heads have you guys played with that like / emission friendly?

Since mine is a roller block motor, am I looking for a Hydrolic Roller Tappet, or a Hydrolic Flat Tappet?

Re: What cam specs are you running?

The lumpyness of the idle is directly proportional to the vaccum and amount of emmisions you will make. So in a nut shell you can't have a lumpy idle and maintain stock like emmisions. You can run a pretty decent size cam as long as you keep the overlap to a minimum (what causes the lumpiness). Something in the 210-214 range should be doable.

Keep in mind that ANY cam swap will require chip tuning. Getting a clean idle is one the harder things to do and is crucial to passing emmisions. Don't even try to use a mail order chip....it'll never pass.

You would in a hydraluic roller lifter camshaft. I run a flat tappet in my 350 tbi specs are. 264/274 adv. duration, .423/.446 lift 204/214 degrees at .050 inch lift. You can hear the cam in it, car idles wonderfully.

How was that to tune with TBI? Are you using the stock computer?

I dont think this cam will work unless you tune. no way around it. IMHO.

Note this ones LSA. It is a "computer cam".

Yep. Compucam 2030 I think is the old designator. Back when all these decisions were made during the build, it was a daily driver and EBL didn't exist so some sacrifices were made. The heads help a ton. Still puts out 450ish tq. Just wish I had another 50hp at times now that she's been retired to "fun" status.
