081 or 305 vortec
What would you guys do in my situation
I can get 305 Vortec Heads for $200.00 (locally)
Or 081 TPI 305 heads for $50.00 (locally too)
With my 1993 lt1 cam which would work nicer with my car
the vortecs with a gmpp vortec intake, or 081 heads with performer tbi intake?
Any restrictions on lift with the 93 lt1 cam/
Thanks

Re: 081 or 305 vortec
Just a couple things to point out, the 305 vortec's aren't anywhere near as good as the 350 version. I've also seen 350 vortec's go for between 200-300 on ebay pretty regulary.
Any stock GM head is going to be limited to between .450 and .465 lift, it's always a good idea to double check retainer to seal clearance just to make sure you don't have a tight one. I rounded off lobes on 2 cams before I quite taking everyone's word and actually checked my heads. My particular heads went into bind at .460 lift and I had a .468 lift cam.
You might want to verify the intakes you have picked out will fit under the stock hood. If the gmpp intake is the carb version, I'll tell you it's a tight fit because we are trying to put TBI on my brother's car right now and we are down to a 2" filter to get the hood closed.
I'm sure I've mentioned this to you before, but this combo won't run worth crap unless you tune it, and no mail order won't cut it.

I've proven the 305 Vortecs being vastly inferior as being FALSE on both the flow-bench and the dyno.
