Car jerks
Well the car seems to be jerking at highway speeds(80-90). And it troughs a code 32 for egr. But I don't see how that makes a car jerk that bad. I also noticed that at highway speeds on the air/fuel ratio gauge that the car runs so lean that the gauges turns off. The last lean light goes dim and then goes out. I have changed the fuel filter. I ran a scanner on the car and it shows the o2 not fluctuating as it should. So my guess is the egr is stuck opening and the o2 is not adjusting it enough to give it enough fuel at highway speeds. Dose this sound like the problem. The car has a code 32 for egr. So I am going to replace that anyways. And the car has 161,000 miles on it. So changing the o2 should be a good idea. But the car runs GREAT around town. But the gauge dose the same thing in the city. But dose not jerk. Anyways. Let me know what you think. I'm going to try and do it sometime this week. But would like to know if I am heading in the right direction. Thanks in advance for all the help! Adam :-)

Re: Car jerks
you may have a plugged egr valve witch applies vaccum too soon causing the car to jerk, either unplug it to see if thats the problem or just go buy a new one. Most likely the problem if its a higher milage motor, i had the same problem and that solution worked for me. good luck

Re: Car jerks
The O2 sensor going off the lean end is the highway mode kicking in. The ECM goes open loop (no O2 feedback) and leans the mix out to 15.5-16 to 1 to gain a few more MPG.
I'm not real sure of how the EGR routine works out, but it may be enabled when in highway mode, if the egr doesn't work then the problems you are having could most definately by caused by the valve.
