well, i've been driving my new to me gta all summer, delivering pizza'a in it (makes my job sooo much better). i'm looking forward to the finished product..
the gta has every performance option for 87: l98,bw9 bolt,4 wheel discs, aluminum driveshaft,ws6 yada yada, all that gets me is a 15.1 at 91 mph in the quarter. my old car is a 92 anniversary rs, l03, no performance options other then the v8, 15.6 in th 1/4. going to swap the whole driveline in minus trans, now i have tpi in the gta and tbi in the camaro. but now i'm thinkin for simplicity and since tbi has come so far the last couple o years im going to stick with it. so with tbi, l98 heads, a fresh 350 and a well selected cam and intake combo, i think i can make a nice fast street car. hopin to be mid 13's.
is it doable with these heads? without sinking huge cash into it? i like the fact that tbi is like carb in that, intakes are cheap, cams are cheap, and tuning your powerband is waay easier the with the mpfi setups,, meaning i can get a new intake if i want without paying 25% of my original purchase price for it..
the gta is a rustbucket, we refer to her as the rattle rocket, thats why i'm putting the guts into my freshly pinated/restored 92.

Hey I think that the TBI would definatley be the cheaper route!! Although you will have to do some computer mods and probably some wirring swap's to get everything hooked up. Is your tpi mas/ or map system?? Carb intakes are definatley cheaper and I think with all the wisdom on this forum that you could get it tuned in pretty good. Do you have the ability to tune your own stuff Yet?/ Just my 2 bits!!

I have a L-98 with TBI, 3.73 gears, 5 speed, TPI exhaust system.
real nice combination with proper injectors and 350 electronics some headers, and a better intake, it would be even better I'de guestimate it could reach high 13's.
As it is though it runs real strong. Sorry it's never been on a track, I have raced my friends 1990 vette and it stays with it for the most part.
