Problem, head gasket?

Car runs fine for a while, then the service engine soon light comes on throwing 13 code (lean). After that there is bubbling in the cooling liquid container and then the car dies. There is no oil in cooling liquid or via versa, but what else could it be? Thanks for advance.

Bad radiator cap? What's the coolant temperature when it dies? Any white smoke out the tailpipe?

No white smoke, temperature is ~220F. How could bad radiator cap stall the car?

Re: Problem, head gasket?

Well it could be a small head gasket leak. Your engine could be pressurizing the cooling system if any cylinder pressure is getting past the ring.

I would compression test all cylinders to eliminate that possibility.

I had the same bubling in the overflow. It was the head gasket. I actually pulled the thermostate to see if that was it. Still bubbled.
